Straighten Your Smile with Orthodontics

man smiling with head on booksStraighter teeth look and feel great, they allow people to chew thoroughly, and they promote overall oral health by placing even stress across the bite to prevent unnecessary dental wear and strained jaw joints. Even with so much benefit from orthodontic care, many patients still avoid straightening their teeth because they think uncomfortable, time consuming, and image impacting traditional braces are their only option. Whether you’re trying to maintain professional appearance, have metal allergies, or simply don’t have the time to devote to two or more years of orthodontic treatment with frequent, lengthy appointments, the Sevens Dental team has a number of orthodontic solutions that make treatment more comfortable, convenient, and cosmetic. Contact our team to find out more or schedule an orthodontic consultation today. We are located in Clayton, MO, but we’re happy to treat patients from Richmond Heights and all of Greater St. Louis.

Invisalign®

It utilizes a series of clear, plastic alignment trays to shift teeth into their ideal position. We start by taking x-rays showing how the teeth fit together. Then, we capture impressions of patients’ bites. These impressions and x-rays are used to create a treatment plan that uses sets of aligners to shift teeth one step closer to the desired end result. This treatment plan and documentation is then sent to an Invisalign lab where technicians craft sets of alignment trays that each represent the next stage in the treatment process. Worn for between 2 and 4 weeks, these alignment trays shift the smile into this new position. Then, patients simply exchange the current set of aligners for the next in the series. Every 4 to 6 weeks, patients will visit our office where we’ll checkup on their progress to make sure teeth are shifting as planned. Perhaps best of all, Invisalign has minimal impact on patients’ daily routines. Because the aligners are removable, patients can continue their regular oral hygiene routines and consume all of their favorite foods throughout treatment.

ClearCorrect™

However, there are a number of minor differences that make this treatment option better for some patients. ClearCorrect is manufactured in the United States reducing the time it takes to send in treatment plans or changes to existing plans and receive the new aligners. This clear plastic orthodontic system may also be beneficial for those patients looking to stretch their budgets. Saved shipping costs and waved manufacturer fees make ClearCorrect a more affordable option. Overall, the ClearCorrect and Invisalign systems function in essentially the same way, but as part of our ongoing dedication to offering patients a variety of treatment options, Dr. Dedrickson and his team have training and experience in both orthodontic systems.

Fastbraces®

This orthodontic option looks a lot like traditional braces, but they allow us to shift teeth into their ideal alignment more quickly and comfortably. Traditional braces connect a series of brackets together using wires to place pressure on the visible portions of teeth. Over time, this pressure causes the underlying tooth roots to shift into position. Fastbraces utilize a unique, triangular bracket design that allows both the crown and root to move simultaneously. This means patients who choose Fastbraces are able to achieve the same results possible with traditional braces in half the time, with fewer orthodontic adjustments. Additionally, the Fastbraces brackets offer a much lower profile compared to traditional brackets and wires. That means they do not stick out as far which may reduce irritation to the mouth and gums.
